South Kent (Conn.) High four-star center Papa Kante is set for his second visit to Michigan, this time in an unofficial capacity after taking an official trip back in June. The Wolverines lead for Kante on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) with a 36.3-percent chance to land the top target. However, On3 insider Jamie Shaw is even more confident he’ll go Maize and Blue, slotting the odds at 75 percent.

“Michigan head coach Juwan Howard made Kante a priority from the start,” Shaw wrote last week. “He took a personal interest in the big man, and it has made an impression. The visit went well, and the style of play and development intrigues Kante.”

Michigan junior running back Blake Corum has picked up 46 first downs on runs this season, which leads all Power Five running backs.

Former Michigan basketball forward Moussa Diabate threw down an insane posterizing dunk for the Los Angeles Clippers in exhibition action against the Denver Nuggets.

Michigan sophomore running back Donovan Edwards is thankful for Corum, who he’s learned from during his year-plus with the program. He discussed on the Wolverine+ podcast Wednesday evening.

Michigan is bringing back pom poms for Saturday’s maize out game against Penn State. The Wolverines have had one maize out per season over the last several. This is the first top 10 matchup inside The Big House since last season’s 42-27 victory over Ohio State in November.

Michigan graduate tight end Luke Schoonmaker has become one of sophomore quarterback J.J. McCarthy’s favorite targets, especially during Big Ten play. Over the last three games, he’s hauled in 20 catches.

Quote Of The Day

“The beginning, what we didn’t want to do is put too much on his plate. That was evident. We wanted him to be comfortable in the system, and we do a lot of things defensively here. You can overload him with utilizing him in your base package, nickel package, third down package. You have to pick and choose what you want to utilize him in just because it can become overwhelming, and you’re’ not going to get much out of a young guy like that his first time in the system a few weeks in.
