Newsstand: Nimari Burnett will graduate from Alabama in August, be immediately eligible at Michigan
Tweets Of The Day
Alabama transfer Nimari Burnett committed to Michigan in the spring and was announced by the program as a graduate transfer this month. As expected, per Jon Rothstein, he’s in line to graduate from Alabama in August and be immediately eligible for Michigan this coming season. Rothstein called Burnett “one of the best on-ball defenders in college basketball.” He’s a projected starter on a team with only one of those in sophomore guard Dug McDaniel.
“I have watched and gotten to know Nimari for several years,” Michigan head coach Juwan Howard said in a statement when Burnett was announced as part of the program. “He has that ‘feel’ for the game that is just unique. This is why he has continued to excel on both ends of the floor. We also love his length, toughness and passion for the game. Nimari’s work ethic and leadership is off the charts. We can’t wait for him to get here.”
“I’m very excited to become a part of the Michigan program,” said Burnett. “This is a great opportunity for me to learn from someone of Juwan’s caliber as well as from some of the best basketball minds in the country. I have heard so much about the Maize and Blue faithful and I am really looking forward to interacting with them, the Maize Rage and all the students on campus. If all goes well we could all have a special year.”
Michigan prospects Kobe Bufkin and Jett Howard will be selected in the 2023 NBA Draft Thursday night. In The Ringer’s latest mock drat, Bufkin went No. 8 overall to the Washington Wizards and Howard No. 24 to the Sacramento Kings.

Quote Of The Day
“He can be guarding one dude; the next minute, he’ll be guarding the seam route and picking that thing off. And he’s super tall, so he can probably make any catch on the field. He used to play wide receiver, so he’s a ballhawk. That comes natural with being A-Walk. He’s a dawg. He’s just a dawg.”
