Newsstand: Highlights from Michigan basketball's win over EMU
Tweets Of The Day
Michigan Wolverines basketball beat Eastern Michigan, 88-83, Friday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit to improve to 2-0. The Maize and Blue needed 31 points from junior Hunter Dickinson, marking his second career 30-point performance, and 18 points from classmate Terrance Williams II to get the job done. EMU’s Emoni Bates scored 30 points in his Eagles’ debut, which made for an entertaining night downtown.
Here are the highlights from the game:
Here’s a look at what Bates did Friday.
It’s officially official: Michigan football and Nebraska will play for a trophy today. Former U-M offensive lineman Taylor Lewan and former Nebraska linebacker Will Compton host the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast on Barstool Sports, and asked each program if they’d agree to play for a bus trophy. Both Jim Harbaugh and the Cornhuskers agreed, and the ‘boys’ made up the trophy. They’re in Ann Arbor this weekend to present it to the winner.
Michigan football will don its all-blue uniform combination. That includes blue accessories and socks, unlike the last time the Wolverines wore blue pants (against MSU Oct. 29), when the accessories were maize. The Wolverines are 9-1 all time with blue pants, including a perfect 6-0 mark at home. Michigan made the announcement with a social media post.
This is the third time this season that Michigan has gone blue on blue, joining a 41-17 win over Penn State and the aforementioned 29-7 victory over MSU. That marks three-straight home games with the combination.

It’s the seventh time overall and sixth occurrence at home in which Michigan has gone with blue on blue. The first was an 18-13 win over Penn State in 2014, before a 31-10 win over Washington, a 42-27 win over Ohio State and a 34-11 loss to Georgia (Orange Bowl) during the 2021 campaign.
Quote Of The Day
“I might be the toughest and hardest person on Hunter because I just expect more. But yeah, give the young man credit, he knows that, he doesn’t mind that I challenged him. He doesn’t mind being coached. He enjoys going out there and competing and it’s tough sometimes when you have smaller guys that’s walking underneath you, beating on your arm.” — Michigan head coach Juwan Howard on Hunter Dickinson
