Michigan basketball: Hunter Dickinson, Kobe Bufkin, Jett Howard land on All-Big Ten teams
Michigan Wolverines basketball has three players named All-Big Ten, with the conference announcing its postseason honors Tuesday afternoon. Junior center Hunter Dickinson landed on the media’s first team and coaches’ second team. Both sophomore guard Kobe Bufkin and freshman guard Jett Howard were named to the third team by the coaches and honorable mentions by the media.
Purdue center Zach Edey, the conference’s player of the year, and Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis were unanimous first-team selections. Iowa forward Kris Murray and Penn State guard Jalen Pickett were first-team choices from both the media and coaches. Illinois guard Terrence Shannon Jr. landed on the coaches’ first team, while Northwestern guard Boo Buie joined Dickinson on the media’s list, which actually had six selections.
Dickinson was a first-teamer as a freshman in 2021, when he also earned second-team All-America honors, and a second-teamer in 2022.
The 7-foot-1, 260-pounder ranks fourth in the Big Ten in points (18.2), rebounds 9) and blocks (1.7) per game. He slots fifth with a 56 field goal percentage, shooting 58.1 percent on twos and 42.3 percent on threes.

Bufkin has made one of the biggest ‘sophomore leaps’ in recent Michigan history, after averaging 10.8 minutes per game last season, shuffling in and out of the rotation. The Grand Rapids, Mich., native is registering 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per outing this year, playing both guard spots for the Maize and Blue. Michigan’s youngest scholarship player is averaging 20.3 points per game over his last six outings.
Michigan freshman guard Jett Howard landed on the All-Big Ten Freshman Team in addition to his aforementioned honors. The head coach’s youngest son is second on the Wolverines with 14.5 points per game.
With his team-best 76 three-pointers, Howard needs five more to set the U-M freshman record currently held by Nik Stauskas (80, 2012-13). He needs two more triples to crack Michigan’s all-time top 10 for single-season three-pointers.
Michigan graduate guard Joey Baker is the Wolverines’ Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree.
