It’s decision day for Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon four-star shooting guard Justin Pippen, the No. 93 overall prospect and 20th-best player at his position in the 2024 recruiting class.

Pippen will choose between finalists California, Stanford, Florida, Michigan and Texas A&M. He will make his announcement around 4:30 p.m. ET.

Michigan is the overwhelming favorite to land Pippen, leading the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) with a 94.7-percent chance to earn his commitment. On3 recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw placed a prediction for the Wolverines to win this recruitment April 15 at 1:13 p.m.

Pippen, a 6-foot-3, 180-pounder, is the son of Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, who played for the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA from 1987 to 2004.

“Justin Pippen is an aggressive guard,” Shaw wrote in his scouting report of the Michigan target. “He has a good frame, growing to the 6-3, 6-4 range with long arms and a projectable build. He is comfortable on or off the ball. Pippen aggressively touches the paint in the half court and finishes well at and above the rim.

“The jump shot is becoming a weapon as he continues to learn his shot selection. Pippen will need to continue working on the footwork and angles to help get to his spots. Simplifying his game, working on decision making as he enters a college offense is a next step as well.

“Pippen is a late bloomer, having grown a few inches over the last year. He was a focal point of his high school’s offense for the first time this season and proved up to the task at Sierra Canyon/CA. Pippen’s game continues to improve and he is on a clear upward trajectory. He has defensive upside, guarding on and off the ball with purpose. He is the son of NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen.”

A look at Michigan running back Blake Corum’s run to put the Wolverines up a touchdown — 27-20, which wound up being the final score — in an overtime victory over Alabama in the Rose Bowl.

On3 recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong discusses Michigan’s spot in the recruiting rankings at No. 23 in the country.

“The recruiting rankings don’t apply as much to Michigan as maybe they do for other schools, with the track record of player development that they’ve had,” Wiltfong said.

“Now, there are a lot of new question marks at Michigan, right? New head coach, new strength coach — they had arguably the best strength coach in the country — they’ve had arguably the best defensive coordinator in the country over the last couple years, from [Mike] Macdonald to [Jesse] Minter. A new offensive coordinator, too.

Quote Of The Day

“He has a lot of God given ability. He’s 6-foot-4 and right at about 200 pounds right now, and he’s only 15 years old. He doesn’t turn 16 until June. He’s extremely young, but he works extremely hard. He does all of the things that you ask out of a quarterback, and he enjoys studying film and watching and learning. His teammates love him. He’s a great teammate. He’s a great guy in the weight room and locker room. He does what you ask. He had a tremendous sophomore year, and we are expecting big things from him this year.”
