Wolverine TV: Juwan Howard talks Emoni Bates, Michigan signees Papa Kante, George Washington III, more
Michigan Wolverines basketball head coach Juwan Howard met with the media Thursday morning ahead of his team’s Friday night game against Eastern Michigan at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Howard discusses his two-man 2023 signing class comprised of four-star big man Papa Kante and four-star combo guard George Washington III and much more.

Michigan press conference notes
Michigan is fresh off a 75-56 win over Purdue Fort Wayne to open the season. The Wolverines will take on Eastern Michigan, which just beat D-II Wayne State by nine points, Friday evening. The Eagles were without star Emoni Bates, a Memphis transfer, but he’s expected to play against the Maize and Blue.
There were rumors surrounding Bates and Michigan while he was in the portal, and Howard was asked today if the Wolverines considered bringing him in.
“We looked at him, but I really love the team that we have today,” Howard said, essentially shooting down the notion.
