Wolverine TV: Juwan Howard, Hunter Dickinson react to Michigan's loss to Indiana
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan Wolverines basketball head coach Juwan Howard and junior center Hunter Dickinson met with the media following their team’s 62-61 loss to Indiana Saturday night at Crisler Center.
The Maize and Blue didn’t score in the final 5:12 and made just one field goal over the last 8:48 of game time, making the setback all the more heartbreaking.
“Well, organization,” Michigan’s head coach said when asked what went wrong late in the game. “That was a big reason why some of the sets, we weren’t able to get to what we were asking from the offensive end. There were times when the guys want to go ahead and do it how they want to do it, or they see something how the defender is playing and they feel this is the best way to run the set.
“Overall, you’ve just got to trust. You also have to trust what is being asked, and then also apply [it]. That’s where I think we got into trouble down the stretch. We weren’t able to get to the offense that was called. That’s a learning process that our players have to get better with.”
Dickinson, Michigan’s workhorse on offense, attempted only 1 field goal after his layup at the 5:12 mark, which were the Wolverines’ last points of the game. He may have gotten a look on the team’s last possession, which occurred with 8.3 seconds left out of an inbounds following a timeout, but it ended in a desperation three at the buzzer.

“We set a ball screen with a riser,” Dickinson explained of Michigan’s last set. “I set a ball screen for Kobe. The dude went under, so he was able to get back in front of Kobe. It was a good defensive play on their part. And then Jett, he got the ball with only like 3 seconds left, so he didn’t have much opportunity there.”
