Newsstand: Michigan stands No. 6 in On3's updated early college basketball rankings

Tweets Of The Day
Michigan basketball checks in No. 6 in On3 reporter Jamie Shaw’s way-too-early college basketball rankings that were updated following the NBA Draft withdrawal deadline.
The Wolverines are behind No. 1 Purdue, No. 2 Houston, No. 3 UConn, No. 4 St. John’s and No. 5 BYU. Purdue is the only Big Ten team ahead of them, and the next-highest squad from the conference after U-M is Illinois all the way down at No. 17.
Michigan is hosting Cartersville (Ga.) High four-star wide receiver Brady Marchese on a visit this weekend, as first reported by The Wolverine’s Ethan McDowell.
The Skinny: Marchese has been committed to Georgia since March. The Peach State native will see the Bulldogs next week and could still stick with them. However, Marchese has been expressing interest in other schools behind the scenes. Michigan is a threat to flip him, but Marchese has locked in an OV to Florida and may also see Arizona State and South Carolina.
How Michigan can win: Along with selling Lindsey and Underwood, Michigan needs to make Marchese feel comfortable in Ann Arbor. It’s always an uphill battle to steal a Georgia kid away from Kirby Smart and company. However, Michigan can have him spend time around Georgia native Julius Holly as well as Shamari Earls, who flipped from UGA last cycle. Michigan Assistant Director of Recruiting John Collins worked at Georgia and should be heavily involved.

Quote Of The Day
“Marchese is a Georgia native committed to UGA. While it looks like he’ll be a tough flip on the surface, Marchese has been very open with his recruitment behind the scenes. Michigan wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy has done a great job of connecting with Marchese and will have a chance to really move the needle this weekend. With that said, Marchese is also considering other programs like Arizona State, Florida and South Carolina.”
