Four-star Michigan signee Oscar Goodman reclassifies, joins Wolverines for second semester
Michigan Wolverines basketball is halfway through its season but has a new member to the squad. 2025 power forward signee Oscar Goodman has reclassified to the 2024 class, enrolled early and will join the team shortly, as first reported by Stevie Cozens of Air Time Scouting in Australia and New Zealand.
Goodman will redshirt the remainder of the season and play in 2025-26. Classes for U-M’s second semester begin Wednesday (Jan. 8). The Michigan team is currently in Los Angeles for Tuesday night’s game against UCLA.
The 6-foot-7, 225-pound Goodman is an Opunake, New Zealand, native who previously played for the NBA Global Academy.
Goodman was originally a part of a three-member 2025 signing class, along with four-star guards Trey McKenney and Winters Grady. McKenney and Grady will join the team this coming summer ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Goodman is ranked as the No. 100 overall prospect and No. 25 power forward in the 2025 class, according to On3.
“Oscar arrives in Ann Arbor as an accomplished international player and prospect, who was just named to the New Zealand senior national team,” Michigan head coach Dusty May said in a statement when Goodman signed. “He comes from a tight-knit family that values everything that we want our program to be about. His training at the NBA Academy, as well as his eagerness and ability to compete, will allow him to affect our program positively from day one.”
More from Michigan’s press release when Goodman, McKenney and Grady signed:
An efficient scorer in the paint, Goodman shot 63.0 percent from around the rim at the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup, averaging over two made dunks per game as he helped lead New Zealand to a historic fourth-place finish.
Goodman has become a key piece of the New Zealand setup throughout his youth career. At the 2023 FIBA U16 Asian Championship, he was named tournament MVP while helping New Zealand secure a silver medal. The previous year, he led the U15 team to a silver medal at the 2022 FIBA U15 Oceania Championship, where he was the team’s top scorer and earned a spot on the all-tournament first team.
