The Michigan podcast hosts began by discussing Lendeborg’s decision to remain in college, play with the Wolverines and put the NBA on hold.

“Part of it is that Michigan has the NIL to pay him now,” Balas said. “That’s put Michigan in the mix for some of these elite players. At the same time, Michigan — I don’t think — was the highest bidder here, and Yaxel just felt really, really comfortable with [head coach] Dusty May.

“The fact that he’s here, and the fact that this team is gonna look so much different but has so many pieces to really compete nationally next year, is fascinating to me what he’s done in two years here, Dusty May. It’s incredible.

“[Junior] Elliot Cadeau at point guard. You got Morez Johnson Jr., who is an absolute stud and a beast defensively and brings that physical presence that I think they were lacking last year.

“Now, the biggest problem — if you want to call it that — is the minutes, how you’re going to divvy them up. They love their freshmen, too. Trey McKenney is gonna play, according to Dusty May when I talked to him. This team is gonna be really, really fun to watch. I hope people come out to see ’em.”

Michigan basketball won 27 games last season but is chasing even bigger prizes this year, which we get into on the show.
