Michigan brought in four new defensive backs from the transfer portal this spring, and they’ll all be on campus in the coming days. They’ll begin competing for playing time, adding to the secondary depth.
“We’ll see,” Moore said of their fit. “It’s a competitive culture. The depth chart is an ever flowing organism that we just let ride. Just excited to see who wins the battles. It’s great to have competition and depth.
“I think we just try to find the best players — the best guys that fit us. That’s the most important piece for us.”
Michigan junior defensive tackles Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham make up arguably the top interior defensive line duo in the nation. Moore is excited for their growth and what’s to come this season.

“Obviously, we try not to get wrapped up on all that because that doesn’t really mean anything until we get on the field,” Moore said of the hype for those two Michigan players. “Those guys are going to get pushed by the guys behind them, but those guys are setting a high standard for what their play is going to be like, so super stoked for them.
“They just tried to refine every piece of their game [during Michigan’s spring practices], whether it’s pad level, hands, footwork, eliminating gaps, physicality. They do it at an extremely high level, but they want to set the standard for what that play looks like.”
Michigan added back junior Amorion Walker at wide receiver, after he played cornerback last season before transferring to Ole Miss and spending the spring there. Moore is pleased with his group of pass-catchers.
“I feel good about it,” Moore said of the wide receiver position. “People forget about the guys like Tyler Morris and Semaj Morgan and Fredrick Moore. Super stoked for them. Kendrick Bell is another guy we’re excited about, so we got good depth. Obviously, when you got a tight end like Colston Loveland, you’ve got a great receiver body there, as well. And then Marlin Klein at the tight end position, we’re super excited about.”
