Michigan Wolverines football fall camp began Wednesday, and the program released its updated roster for the 2023 season. The roster includes newcomers who joined the team this summer, weight changes, jersey number switches and more. Here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know:

Jersey number changes

There are four scholarship Michigan players who have changed their jersey numbers. The most notable is junior safety Rod Moore, who told us this summer he’d be going from No. 19 to No. 9.

• QB Jayden Denegal — 14 to 4
• DB Kody Jones — 12 to 6
• WR Fredrick Moore — 82 to 3
• DB Rod Moore — 19 to 9

It’s also worth noting that sophomore cornerback Amorion Walker — now listed as a “DB” as opposed to his spring listing of “DB/WR” — and junior cornerback Ja’Den McBurrows are both wearing No. 1. One of them — presumably whoever comes up short in the position battle — will have to change their digit, otherwise they can’t be on the field at the same time this fall.

Position switches

As mentioned, Walker is listed solely as a defensive back now. Senior Kalel Mullings, too, is now only a running back after being listed as “RB/LB” in the spring. Freshman Enow Etta is now an EDGE after being listed as a defensive lineman when he signed with Michigan last December.

Weight changes

Here’s a look at every significant weight change on Michigan’s roster. Note that freshmen (who enrolled early) on the below list are being compared between their spring listing and what the roster now says.
