Michigan Wolverines football is one of three finalists for Clemson wide receiver transfer Troy Stellato, he told to On3’s Pete Nakos. Kentucky and West Virginia are the other two schools in the mix. Stellato visited Kentucky this weekend.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder has two seasons of eligibility remaining. He spent four years at Clemson, redshirting in 2021, missing the entire 2022 campaign due to an ACL injury and appearing in 21 games over the last two seasons (2023-24).

Stellato is the No. 250 overall player and 50th-best wide receiver in the NCAA transfer portal, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Michigan added one of his Clemson teammates, defensive tackle transfer Tré Williams, over the weekend. The Wolverines have landed nine transfer commits since the portal opened in early December, including another wide receiver in Donaven McCulley (Indiana).

Stellato is coming off a solid 2024 season, appearing in nine games with five starts while helping Clemson win the ACC and reach the College Football Playoff, where it lost to Texas in the first round. He played through an injury for multiple weeks before shutting it down in November and missing the final five contests.

“He’s been a great player for us. I think he’s played the third-most snaps of any of our receivers and has made some big plays,” Clemson head coach Swinney said. “I mean, he’s just a very gritty, tough player.”

He finished the season fifth on the team in both receptions (25) and receiving yards (264), scoring a touchdown in a 49-14 win over Wake Forest.

“Proud of him,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said in September. “One of those guys that we are counting on every single week. Need him to continue to be ready and take advantage of his opportunities.”

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native dropped just 1 pass in 2024, but he also only made 1 contested catch on 3 attempts. He had a 7.6-yard average depth of target, ranking fifth among Clemson pass-catchers, and hauled in just 4 receptions on passes of 20-plus air yards. He averaged 5 yards after the catch per reception, with most of his catches coming on short passes.

Stellato was an even bigger part of the offense in 2023, bringing in 38 receptions for 321 yards and a touchdown in 12 games. He had nine multi-catch outings.

“Nothing he does surprises me,” Swinney said before the 2024 campaign. “I’m really proud of him, and I’m just happy for him. The kid has been on ice for two years, and that’s really hard when you’re a great football player and a highly recruited guy and for two years, you got all these issues. So, it’s really cool, and sometimes a guy just needs a little bit of success, and man, it’s just like throwing fuel on the fire. It’s been really good to see.”

The aforementioned ACL injury held Stellato out of the 2022 campaign, after he redshirted and played in just two games in 2021.

A Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons product, Stellato was a four-star recruit in the 2021 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the No. 294 overall player and No. 43 wide receiver in the nation.
