Highlight from this Michigan football and basketball podcast

The hosts began the podcast by discussing Collins’ departure and Llewellyn’s arrival for Michigan basketball.

“Llewellyn is coming in,” Sayfie said. “That was some competition for Frankie Collins, and it looks like he wanted to find some greener pastures elsewhere.”

“That’s exactly what happened,” Balas said of the former Michigan guard’s decision to leave. “And to be honest with you, in speaking with some people close to the program, I think they’re OK with the trade, to be honest.

“Everybody was panicking and saying, ‘Wow, how do we lose Frankie Collins?’ And my rebuttal to that was, if you were looking through the portal and you were looking at guards — forget the names — and you saw a guy in there with Frankie’s numbers, shooting 16 percent from three and 44 percent from the free-throw line as a point guard, you’d say, ‘No way,’ right? Your first reaction would be to say, ‘Yeah, why would you want a guy like that?’ Now, granted, he does other things — he gets to the rim, he could be a great defender.

“But you need guys around Hunter Dickinson that are going to spread the floor a little bit, and I think Llewellyn is that guy. They are bringing him in to be a point guard. It’ll be him, Dug McDaniel, and we’ll see how the rest of the roster pans out.

“But if Moussa Diabate and Caleb Houstan both come back — and I think that’s a big if, since I think Diabate is probably leaning towards staying in the draft — then I think your roster is set. Otherwise, you could say you could go out and get another guard/wing.”
