Michigan is a 5.5-point underdog against Ohio State to end the regular season at The Big House Nov. 29. Here’s what Sayfie and Broome said about the spread.

“This line opened at 9.5 for Ohio State,” Sayfie pointed out. “… Things have happened since that initial line came out, but Michigan a 5.5-point dog. I think that’s fine. I think they’d embrace that. They were a 5.5-point dog in 2021 and they won, and then bigger than that the next year and then, obviously, last year, a huge dog — what? 19.5 points? And then in ’23 was the only time they were favored.”

“It’s gonna be interesting to see,” Broome said. “You talk about those early games setting an expectation for what Vegas sees and those lines. Ohio State, week one, is gonna play Texas at home. That could be a game where I think Texas might be a little more opening day ready. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ohio State was better by the end of the year.

“Breaking in a lot of new pieces — two new coordinators. They’re gonna raise a banner that day [against Texas]. They’re gonna get their rings and all that stuff. I could see Texas coming in there and spoiling that party and setting up, ‘What do they look like early on?’

“I could see this Big Ten pecking order, whatever we predict it to be might not look that way by even the end of September.
