TheWolverine.com‘s Clayton Sayfie, Chris Balas and Anthony Broome discuss Michigan football defensive coordinator Jesse Minter — the runner-up for the Philadelphia Eagles D.C. job — staying with the Wolverines, Big Ten basketball chaos, NBA decisions for Hunter Dickinson, Jett Howard and Kobe Bufkin, and more.

Minter staying at Michigan means head coach Jim Harbaugh won’t have to hire a fourth defensive coordinator in four years, adding some continuity. Plus, Minter is a rising star, having helped the Wolverines’ unit not miss a beat despite losing three top-50 draft picks last season. He was named a Broyles Award finalist, and his name was floated out there for a few college head coaching jobs back in December.

Big Ten basketball continues to be chaotic down the stretch. Purdue clinched at least a share of the regular-season conference crown, but Michigan technically has a small chance of earning a share — even though it’s not necessarily an NCAA Tournament team. The Boilermakers would have to lose both at Wisconsin and against Illinois, and Michigan would have to beat Illinois and Indiana on the road. It’s a tall task, but it’s not impossible.

We also discuss which Big Ten team is playing the best basketball right now. Record wise, Michigan is one of the hottest teams in the league, having won six of its last eight games, and there are a lot of other teams (Purdue included) that have flopped down the stretch.

Despite Purdue limping down the stretch run, with four losses in its last six games, head coach Matt Painter and center Zach Edey are the favorites to be named Big Ten coach and player of the year, respectively. We discuss any other candidates or if those two will win the prestigious awards.

Howard, Bufkin and Dickinson all have decisions to make following this season. The first two are considered projected first-round picks (Howard in the lottery and Bufkin in the 20s overall), while Dickinson isn’t necessarily in the mix to be drafted but could move on after his junior season. We give our early predictions on what each Michigan standout will do.
