Blake Corum becomes 25th unanimous All-American in Michigan football history
Michigan Wolverines football has had one unanimous All-American in each of the last two seasons, with junior running back Blake Corum earning the distinction in 2022 after defensive end Aidan Hutchinson did so in 2021. Corum was selected to the first team by the Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Walter Camp Football Foundation (WCFF), Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and Sporting News.
He’s Michigan’s 25th-ever unanimous All-American and the third in the head coach Jim Harbaugh era, joining Jabrill Peppers (2016) and Hutchinson. The Wolverines have had just seven since 2000 and didn’t have any for an eight-year stretch from 2008-15. He’s the Maize and Blue’s first running back to earn the honor since Bob Chappuis in 1947. Bob Daley (1943) and Tom Harmon (1940) are Michigan’s other ball-carriers to be named unanimous All-Americans.

Corum rushed for 1,463 yards and 18 touchdowns, adding a receiving score, in 12 games. Corum has 22 runs of 15-plus yards, picked up 96 first downs (second nationally among running backs) and forced 73 missed tackles (tied for eighth).
He suffered a knee injury in the first half against Illinois Nov. 19, played only five offensive snaps the following week at Ohio State, underwent knee surgery, missed the Big Ten championship game and will be out for the remainder of the postseason.
The Michigan star was a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, handed out to the nation’s top running back, finished seventh in Heisman Trophy voting and was a consensus first-team All-Big Ten selection. Corum was not one of four finalists for the Heisman Trophy, likely due to his knee injury. He was considered a top contender ahead of the Illinois game but saw his stock fall because of the ailment.

Michigan has four total All-Americans, including consensus honoree Olusegun Oluwatimi
Corum and graduate center Olusegun Oluwatimi are Michigan’s consensus All-Americans this season. Oluwatimi was named to the first team by four selectors and the second team by the Associated Press.
Two others — graduate kicker Jake Moody and senior EDGE Mike Morris — were also named All-Americans. Moody landed on the second team for WCFF, the Associated Press and the AFCA. Morris was a second-teamer per the FWAA and AFCA.
Moody was a consensus All-American and the Lou Groza Award winner (nation’s top place kicker) a season ago. He’s made 26 of his 32 field goal attempts this season with a 54-yard long.
Morris ranks second in the Big Ten with 7.5 sacks on the season, despite missing two of the final three games. The Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year played only 11 snaps during that span, seeing some time early versus Ohio State before shutting it down. His 11.1 pressure rate ranks 15th in the country among edge rushers and his 23.8 pressure rate in true pass sets slots second among the same group.
