Michigan Wolverines football cornerback Gemon Green was not selected in the 2023 NFL Draft, but soon after its conclusion he was signed to a free agent deal by the New York Giants, a source told TheWolverine.com. The Wolverines had nine players taken in the draft.

Listed at 6-foot-2, 186 pounds at Michigan last season, Green appeared in 42 games with 24 starts during his career.

The DeSoto, Texas, native played in 13 contests with 10 starts a year ago, registering 20 tackles and 4 pass breakups. Green was targeted 45 times in coverage, allowing 24 receptions for 320 yards and 3 touchdowns, according to PFF. He opted not to use his extra year of eligibility, instead deciding to pursue his professional career.

Green earned an All-Big Ten honorable mention nod by both the coaches and media in 2022.

Green was hit over the head with a helmet by an MSU player in the tunnel following the Wolverines’ 29-7 win over the Spartans, forcing him to miss the next contest at Rutgers. That incident was a bump in the road for Green, but he still had his most productive season in a winged helmet.

Green played in 12 games with six starts in 2021, recording 24 tackles, 2 pass breakups and 1 interception.

The Michigan cornerback helped the Wolverines rank 20th and 27th nationally in passing yards allowed per game in 2022 and 2021, respectively.

Green opened all six tilts during the shortened 2020 campaign, making 22 tackles with a team-best 9 pass breakups.
