Michigan Wolverines football junior cornerback Myles Pollard plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he told On3’s Pete Nakos. Pollard spent three seasons with the Maize and Blue and has two years of eligibility remaining.

Pollard appeared in just 10 outings over the last three seasons, playing a reserve role throughout the entirety of his career.

The 6-foot-1, 194-pounder totaled 1 tackle in six games in 2024. He logged just 16 defensive snaps in three games, with the rest of his time coming on special teams. He was targeted 3 times in coverage, giving up 3 catches for 58 yards and a touchdown.

He saw time in two games on defense in 2023, totaling 1 tackle. Michigan won the national championship with a 15-0 record, also being crowned Big Ten champions for the third straight season.

He saw action in two contests in 2022, maintaining his redshirt.

A Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood product, Pollard was a three-star recruit in the class of 2022. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, he was the No. 584 overall player and No. 56 cornerback in the country.

Michigan has just six cornerbacks on the roster that have eligibility remaining, including junior Will Johnson, who is a projected NFL Draft pick and will likely head to the next level. The Wolverines did bring in a pair of corners in the 2025 recruiting class, though, in top-100 prospect Shamari Earls and Jayden Sanders.

Michigan and all college football teams have to reassess how they’ll built their rosters. The new roster cap of 105 players will come into effect for the 2025 season, so teams will have to shed athletes.

“It’s really just the spots,” Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore said. “When you’re over a number, you’ve got to — and sometimes you don’t want to — tell guys they’ve got to leave, but they have to because of the number. So, that’s the hard thing with what’s been done now with the roster limit, and especially at this time, making it harsh.

“We’re done at 105 right now. You’ve got to tell walk-on and scholarship guys that they’ve got to leave and find another place. But try to help them as much as you can because you don’t want anybody just out there. So the big thing is being able to give them a cushion because the 105 is going to start to fall. So, give them a cushion until then.”
