Michigan offensive line commit Bear McWhorter saw his family foster two girls, Olivia and Lydia in 2019 and 2020, respectively. The two children in need have become his “sisters” and their stories an inspiration.

From a story on The Athletic:
Bear, who committed to Michigan in February over Clemson, South Carolina, Alabama and Florida, told every coach who recruited him over the years about his family’s story.

And in March 2024 — after years of brainstorming with [father] Josh about how he might be able to use his name, image and likeness for good — he launched a foundation to raise money and awareness for adoption and fostering.
The Brother Bear Foundation. Because every child deserves a family.

“I got two new little sisters,” Bear said. “And (it) really changed my view on life.”

His foundation — which was created in March 2024 — can be found here.

New Michigan forward Yaxel Lendeborg — a UAB transfer who recently withdrew from the 2025 NBA Draft — joined host Brian Boesch on the ‘Defend The Block’ podcast to discuss his decision to come to Michigan and goals for this coming season.

From a story on The Wolverine:
Lendeborg, who was born in Puerto Rico but spent some of his childhood in the Dominican Republic, Ohio and New Jersey, isn’t just coming to Michigan to develop himself, he hopes to contribute to a winning team that has lofty goals. The Wolverines are in the mix as a national title contender heading into the year, according to Vegas odds.

“I am super excited,” he said. “I’m happy to get to that stage. I made a promise, as well, that I want to at least take us to the Final Four. I’m gonna do whatever I can to get us there.”

Quote Of The Day

“I just started to like how he coached his team, how he looked when he was coaching, because a lot of coaches are always fired up, angry. He just seemed so cool, calm and collected, and that’s just how I try to be as a player, as well. It’s kinda nice to have that. It’s refreshing.”
