Newsstand: Michigan football commits shine Thursday night
Tweets Of The Day
TheWolverine.com‘s EJ Holland, Clayton Sayfie and Anthony Broome were on the road watching Michigan commits and targets Thursday night with the high school football season underway.
Here are a few clips from the night, beginning with offensive line commit Kaden Strayhorn. Holland also saw running back pledge Donovan Johnson, but he was limited with a minor injury.
Strayhorn and Johnson’s squad, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, won 27-14 over Oradell (Nj.) Bergen Catholic.
Michigan defensive line commit Bobby Kanka was disruptive in a 20-17 Howell (Mich.) High win over Hudsonville (Mich.) High. Kanka was playing through a knee injury.
Michigan offensive line commit Avery Gach was dominant on both sides of the ball, including on defense. His Beverly Hills (Mich.) Groves squad took down University of Detroit Jesuit, 35-0.
Michigan junior cornerback Will Johnson is being featured by CBS Sports this season. The turnover buffs he brought to the Wolverines are taking the college football world by storm.

Quote Of The Day
“He showed up here as a 14-year-old freshman. I kind of knew about him from youth leagues. We found out he lived up the street. Early on, you could tell he had the physical gifts. It was all about gaining the confidence to go up against older guys. He got some confidence builders in camp. Going from middle school to guys that have aspirations to play at the next level was a big transition for him. But when it came to the games, he played like a veteran. He plays tackle in high school and has the feet to play it in college. He’s not going to be forced to go inside. From conversations we’ve had with college coaches, they are recruiting him as a tackle.”
