According to a report from Angelique S. Chengelis of The Detroit News, Michigan senior special teamer and defensive back Caden Kolesar will miss the remainder of U-M’s season with a knee injury he suffered against Iowa. He went down after a punt, tried to get up and then fall back to the ground, leading observers to believe the ailment was serious. And now it appears that is the case.
“Kolesar tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on punt coverage late in game, several sources told The Detroit News on Tuesday,” Chengelis wrote. “He is expected to have surgery in the next few weeks once the swelling decreases.”
Kolesar posted 8 tackles and blocked 1 kick before suffering the injury.
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh recently discussed what makes Kolesar such a good player.
“He means so much,” Harbaugh said. “The branch doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Just exactly like his dad [John Kolesar, a former Michigan wideout and teammate of Harbaugh’s] in every great way. The first time he ever got into a game at Maryland, there was a kick return for a touchdown. He has that ‘it’ factor just like his dad.”
Michigan freshman cornerback Will Johnson is wearing the No. 2. There are high expectations that come with it, of course, with former U-M corner and Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson having made it famous.

“It obviously reminds me of the legacy behind that number and just to perform,” Johnson said. “It’s a little motivation. Charles Woodson was at the Maryland game, and he came up to me and was like, ‘You got the number on, gotta make a play.’ Just knowing that in my head to be good in that number is always going to push me while I’ve got it on, for sure.”

Quote Of The Day
“I’ve learned from all my mistakes. You can ask my teammates, you can ask every single teammate in every single organization I’ve been a part of about how I am as a. person. That’s the biggest thing. How do people view me? How do my teammates view me? I’m that guy, in the middle of the night and anything is going on, you can call me. If you’re having a bad day, you can call me. I’m just a real team-oriented type of guy and I’ve always been that kind of person. That’s the one thing I’m real big on. My character. I really care about my character. The physical aspects, you’re going to hear some different opinions but how the other man views you, I really care about that.”
