Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff — a former Cal Bears signal-caller set to play in the divisional round of the playoffs against the Washington Commanders — was one of the players asked who will win the national championship game between Ohio State and Notre Dame. Goff chose neither, instead giving a “go blue” to the camera, showing support for Michigan, which is a rival of both programs.

Michigan defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny announced Friday that he will return for his fifth season in 2025. More from The Wolverine’s Chris Balas:

Benny has played in 39 games at Michigan and notched 71 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and three pass deflections, having started three games. He played in 10 games and made 28 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and two pass deflections this year playing behind Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham, stalwarts in the lineup the last two years.

This week, the Department of Education released guidance to schools that revenue-sharing dollars should be split 50-50 between men and women athletes, otherwise they will be in risk of violating Title IX. However, President Donald Trump being sworn in Monday could reverse course on the matter.

“This is a great idea if (President Joe) Biden’s intent is to kill both men’s and women’s college sports,” Cruz wrote in a statement shared by Yahoo! Sports’ Ross Dellenger. “Mandating so-called equal pay when not all sports generate equal revenue will force some colleges out of athletics altogether. Everyone wants to be paid like Michael Jordan, but that’s not the way the world works. I predict this scheme will die on January 20th.”

Quote Of The Day

“I have a great relationship with Michigan. They are one of the top schools that I’m talking to right now. I talk to the coaches and recruiting guys weekly. I’ve talked to Coach (Sherrone) Moore, and he’s a good guy. I really like them. I like what they have going on.”
