Michigan added a new running backs coach in former Ohio State assistant Tony Alford, which garnered a mixed reaction from Mullings given that he was a rival with the Buckeyes. But Mullings had nothing but good things to say about his time with Alford so far.
“Coach Alford has been a great new addition to the running back room,” Mullings said. “He’s just really gone about everything in a great way, just understanding that it’s a process of adjustment for us and for him, as well. But he’s just been great doing that and going over the details of fundamentals for us and making sure that we’re all squared away in all aspects of the run game, pass game, offense — football, really, in general. He’s been on it, honestly, and I love the adjustment and eight practices now, it’s been great.”
Moore, meanwhile, discussed his areas of focus during Michigan’s spring practices.
“I’ve been targeting a lot of different areas,” Moore said. “I’m really trying to focus right now on learning the different pass rush angles that I can understand. Rushing against an offensive lineman, how to set up my pass rush moves and knowing the tendencies of them. I know how to play off all of my rushes and set other rushes up. Then when it comes down the fourth quarter and things like that, I’m able to make a play. I’m really just working on my rush angles right now.”

Moore also talked about Michigan’s defensive tackle duo in juniors Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant. At first, he said he didn’t want to talk too much about them because everyone knows how good they are, but he added some elaboration.
“Recently, I wish y’all were here, but recently, Mason just did something incredible. I don’t want to talk about it, but he just did something incredible. Hopefully, when it’s time for game time, y’all will be able to see it. Hopefully, he makes a play off it, and it’ll be crazy if he did.
“It’s two studs in the middle. They can do anything. You can double team them, they’ll still beat it. You can triple team them, they’ll still beat it. You can drop them into coverage, they’ll strap it down. They’ll do whatever. And it’s crazy. I ain’t never seen any D-tackles that have been doing that. And I’ve been around a lot of great D-tackles, but they’re different, they’re really different.”
