Michigan EDGE Kechaun Bennett enters NCAA transfer portal

Michigan Wolverines football EDGE Kechaun Bennett has entered the NCAA transfer portal after four seasons in Ann Arbor. Bennett has one year of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-4, 257-pounder played in 28 games over four years at Michigan, mostly seeing action on special teams. He totaled 7 tackles in his career and had a blocked punt against Minnesota in 2024.
“This year, my main focus is just to be the best version of me,” Bennett said in September 2024, discussing his journey at Michigan. “Just get better day by day and make impacts for the team. That’s my main focus, being an impact player — anything I can do, whether it’s special teams, defense, anything to help the team win.”
In 2024, Bennett appeared in 13 games, including three at EDGE, posting 4 tackles, 1 quarterback hurry and the aforementioned blocked punt.
The blocked punt set up a score and marked a breakout moment for Bennett, who seldom put up stats during his Michigan career.

“When the ball hit my arm, next thing you know, I’m looking for the ball because I’m trying to scoop and score, score a touchdown. Every defensive player wants to score a touchdown. So, I’m looking for the ball, and I see out of the corner of my right eye that [linebacker] Christian Boivin is grabbing the ball, so I’m just excited so we got the ball. I was happy for him.”
Bennett saw time in 11 outings — including five at EDGE — and made 3 tackles, including 1 for loss, on the season in 2023. He helped Michigan finish 15-0 to win the national championship and Big Ten title.
