Former Michigan TE Erick All to join QB Cade McNamara at Iowa
Former Michigan Wolverines football tight end Erick All has chosen his transfer destination. Following a weekend visit to Iowa, All has made his pledge to the Hawkeyes and will join former U-M quarterback Cade McNamara on the Big Ten West team next fall.
All was expected to see Notre Dame and Washington, but decided to shut down his recruitment after his trip to Iowa City.
All entered the transfer portal Dec. 5, following four years with Michigan. The news came as a surprise, after the team captain had missed the majority of the season with a back injury. He took a veiled shot at the program on his way out.
“Wolverine nation, love you guys, but it’s time for me to move on,” All wrote in a tweet. I know some of you are wondering why I would leave, and the answer to that question is unexpected.
“Not everything/everyone are what they seem, and I learned that from my time here at Michigan. Sometimes you have to let go and do what’s best for you and your family. Love you guys. Go Blue.”

All was Michigan’s second-leading receiver in 2021, hauling in 38 receptions for 437 yards and 2 touchdowns. His 47-yard scoring play served as the game winner at Penn State, and his touchdown in the Big Ten championship game proved crucial.
The former Michigan tight end was one of McNamara’s favorite targets in Ann Arbor. McNamara was unseated as the starter by sophomore J.J. McCarthy, suffered a season-ending injury himself and said he “stopped participating in football” at one point in the season despite being a team captain. McNamara started 16 career games for Michigan and completed 54 percent of his throws for 2,576 yards and 15 touchdowns with 6 interceptions during the 2021 campaign.
Michigan is set to lose five tight ends — Erick All (transfer portal), Louis Hansen (transfer portal), Joel Honigford (out of eligibility), Carter Selzer (out of eligibility) and Luke Schoonmaker (NFL Draft) — following the 2022 campaign. Freshman Colston Loveland, who’s started three contests and has 2 touchdown grabs in each of the last two outings, is set to be the headliner at that position next season. However, the Maize and Blue are targeting transfer portal tight ends themselves.
