Michigan Wolverines football freshman early enrollee quarterback Bryce Underwood launched a YouTube channel and released his first video, where he answered questions from fans.

In the nearly 20-minute Q&A, five-star+ prospect and No. 1 overall recruit in the 2025 class answered the not-so-hard-hitting questions such as whether or not a hot dog is a sandwich, if he will bring his signature backflip to Michigan, who the greatest basketball player of all time is and much more.

Here are some highlights from Underwood’s video.

Is a hot dog a sandwich?

“No, it’s a hot dog.

“Have your teachers ever told you to fold it hot dog style, not burger or something? Yeah, hot dog is its own thing.

“It doesn’t have an opening on the other side like a sandwich, so yeah, a hot dog is a hot dog.”

Are you bringing the backflip to Michigan?

“Probably my first touchdown. I was thinking about my first touchdown celebration anyway. I don’t know, it’s all just off of feeling.

“Out of the tunnel? I don’t know, it depends on how many people are around me. But yeah, I might come out with it a few times this year.”

Who’s better, LeBron James or Michael Jordan?

“LeBron. No hesitation. LeBron is the greatest of all time, statistics-wise. He just doesn’t have more rings. If you’re going off of rings and stuff like that, you can go Jordan. It wouldn’t even be Jordan! Who would it be, Bill Russell? If that’s what you want to do … rings — Bill Russell. But, LeBron.”

What are your pregame superstitions?

“I gotta take a nap before the game. All last year before each game, I was in the coaches office with a beanbag sleeping for about 30 minutes. That’s really it.”

What is the major you will choose at Michigan?

“Psychology or sports management. Either one of those two.

“I’ve been in psychology, really, since I’ve been in 10th or 11th grade, and they got a good psychology program there. So that’s what I may choose, may go with.

“And I heard sports management was kinda easy, so might make that little change.”

Top five Detroit rappers?

“Baby Smoove, Skilla, Baby Money, Babyface Ray, Tee Grizz[ley].”

What is the biggest misconception about you as a football player?

“They say I’m a pocket passer. I’m gonna leave it at that, though. Yeah, I’m a pocket passer.”

Why do you wear No. 19?

“My birthday is August 19th. It’s kinda self-explanatory now that I said that. The day, 19. And it’s different, so why not?”

What is something you wish you figured out sooner?

“That being well-known isn’t good. I can’t go anywhere. I can’t eat. I can’t go to games. I can’t go to concerts.

“I used to be able to go to concerts, no problem. That’s out the window. It’s over with. Can’t do anything.”

Could you go D1 in basketball?

“If I trained for it like I did football, hell yeah.”

How do you balance being a 17-year-old and being a college football player?

“Football is what I want to do, so there’s really no balancing. Other 17 year olds want to party and stuff, but that’s not my biggest worry and thing I want to do. I love football, and that’s what I focus on.”

If you had $14 and you’re hungry, what do you go buy?

“A Baconator from Wendy’s. It’s like $13.69. I know the exact price, it’s kinda crazy.”
