Through 10 games, four Michigan Wolverines football freshmen have burned their redshirts for this season: linebacker Cole Sullivan (nine appearances), tight end Hogan Hansen (seven), cornerback Jo’Ziah Edmond (6) and safety Mason Curtis (6). Players can retain their redshirt if they don’t appear in more than four regular-season contests.

Michigan has two more first-year players that might burn their redshirts in the final two games in EDGE Dominic Nichols and offensive lineman Jake Guarnera. Each are sitting at four contests, and one more would put them over the top.

No other Michigan freshman has a chance to burn the redshirt — even running back Jordan Marshall, who served as the team’s kick returner in a 20-15 loss to Indiana Nov. 9. He nearly broke a long return multiple times, including on his career-long 40-yarder. He’s missed the majority of the campaign with a lower-body injury but returned for the tilt in Bloomington, and he has two appearances of the year. A potential bowl game doesn’t count against players’ redshirt statuses.
