Both players discussed waiting their turn behind several Michigan players who are now in the NFL. Both will have big roles this season and say they’re ready.
“There isn’t anything to talk about,” Guy said about his moment being here. “Sharpening my tools every day in practice. It’s time to go. Getting better every day for your teammates.
“Everything that I’ve been through in my time here, it’s good to see everything’s paying off. Everything I’ve been through led me to be where I am right now, so I’m just ready to seize the opportunity.
“I would describe it as ‘growing pains.’ I came in here as a boy, I’m gonna leave here as a man. Learning principles of life that translate to football. Just growing, handling situations better, growing getting better every day, stuff like that.”
El-Hadi feels similarly about his situation, with the senior set to become Michigan’s starting right guard.

“I’ve been very patient,” El-Hadi said. “I’ve been trusting in God. I didn’t want to leave. Didn’t want to go nowhere else. I had opportunities, but I decided to stay over here and be patient. It’s my turn now.
“Michigan is one of the best places out here. The best O-line coaches. I just trust in the process. That’s what it’s about. We have a standard over here, and we’re gonna uphold that standard every day. That’s what it’s about — getting better and better. We got the two best defensive tackles in the nation; I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
“I’m gonna give it my all every day. I trusted the process this long, trusting in God this long. It’s my time. I’m gonna go out there and dominate and be one of those dawgs.
“To be honest with you, it wasn’t an easy decision [to stay at Michigan] with the outside noise, having everyone telling me something different. I just had to trust and talk to God about it a lot. I wanted to stay here. Whenever things got hard before I never ran, so what’s the point of leaving now?”
