Esposito discussed how Michigan hopes to rotate quite a bit on the defensive line, but that the plan will very depending on how each game goes.
“Us as a D-line, you watch very good defenses, up front they’re fresh,” Esposito said. “It’s uncommon what we ask guys to do: You’re running into 300-pound guys, you’re trying to stop on a dime, change direction, chase a running back, chase a receiver on a screen. So it takes a lot of energy, and guys get banged up.
“It’s no secret when you’re fresh, you play better. So we’re going to try to rotate those guys as much as we can. I hope we’re in a situation where we can play a lot of guys, but that’s not always the case.

“This team that we have coming in here is going to be a great team, a great test for us. So we’re going to play the guys the amount of plays we need them to play to win.
“But the plan is always to rotate as much as we can, and especially at the D-line position. You gotta keep guys fresh, and that’s what we’re going to try to do.”
Newsome, meanwhile, said there’s still competition ongoing on the Michigan offensive line for some different starting jobs — at center and right tackle, specifically.
“We feel really good about multiple guys, both at center and the right tackle position,” Newsome said. “We feel truthfully we have three guys at each that we can go out and win a lot of games with. I’m excited to see how it continues to play out, and I know the guys we trot out there Saturday will do a good job. I have full confidence in even the guys behind them, excited to see how that group plays.”
