Michigan Lands Huge Commitment From Top 100 Te Andrew Olesh Out Of Pennsylvania I #Goblue

There are 54 days until the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines football team takes the field in the Aug. 31 opener against Fresno State. Each day until then, we’ll discuss current Michigan events, the upcoming season and/or take a look at a significant number that correlates with how many days remain until kickoff, whether it be a player’s jersey number, a year, a date, a score, etc.

Michigan is red hot on the recruiting trail, landing two massive 2025 commitments Monday afternoon. Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange four-star safety Ivan Taylor flipped his commitment from Notre Dame to the Wolverines, before Center Valley (Pa.) Southern Lehigh four-star tight end Andrew Olesh joined the class.

Both are ranked inside the top 100 according to the On3 Industry Ranking, with Taylor standing No. 58 overall and Olesh checking in No. 93. That makes three top-100 pledges for the Maize and Blue this cycle, which still has a ways to go before signing day in December, with Oak Park (IIl.) Fenwick defensive lineman Nate Marshall being the other at No. 54. Meanwhile, Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga four-star defensive back Kainoa Winston, another Michigan commit, slots No. 101, just outside the top 100.

Having three top-100 prospects in the class is significant relative to recent Michigan football recruiting results. The Wolverines had just one top-100 commit over the last two cycles (2023-24) combined, in fact — running back Jordan Marshall at No. 87.

This is Michigan’s first class with three top-100 commits since 2022, when U-M brought in cornerback Will Johnson (No. 16), EDGE Derrick Moore (No. 37) and safety Keon Sabb (No. 87). The Wolverines had that same amount in 2021 — running back Donovan Edwards (No. 34), quarterback J.J. McCarthy (No. 47) and linebacker Junior Colson (No. 90).

The Wolverines haven’t had more than three top-100 prospects in one haul since reeling in four in 2019. Other classes with a bounty of top-100 recruits are 2017 (seven) and 2016 (six).

Michigan’s 2025 class currently ranks No. 11 in the nation and No. 3 in the Big Ten. The only conference foes with better crops of prospects so far are Ohio State (No. 1) and Oregon (No. 4). The Wolverines entered Monday No. 17 in the country but made a big move up to 11. Based on average star rating, Michigan has the eighth-best class in the sport, with 15 members.
