Pregame observations: Michigan vs. Hawai'i warmups underway after delay

Michigan Wolverines football is set to take on the Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors at The Big House to open the 2022 season. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network.

Pregame updates: Michigan vs. Hawai’i

• 8:52 p.m. — The Michigan team is going through its last team warmups, practicing plays going into the north end zone.

• 8:34 p.m. — Michigan will not touch the banner, after the lightning delay.

• 8:21 p.m. — Michigan graduate left tackle Ryan Hayes, who missed last week’s game with a minor injury, is warming up and expected to start. It appears senior offensive lineman Karsen Barnhart, who opened against Colorado State in replacement of Hayes, did not dress.

• 8:18 p.m. — The Michigan players have taken the field for warmups after an extended delay due to lightning. Fans are beginning to file in, as well. Kickoff is set for approximately 9 p.m.

U-M (No. 6 coaches/No. 4 AP) has won all three previous match-ups, earning victories at Aloha Stadium in Hawai’i in 1986 and 1998, and claiming a 63-3 victory at Michigan Stadium to open the 2016 season. Head coach Jim Harbaugh led the No. 4 Wolverines to a 27-10 win in 1986, and the 1998 team posted a 48-17 win during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. … U-M is 40-28 all time in night games, including a 9-2 mark in Michigan Stadium.
