Newsstand: How playing at Michigan prepared David Long for NFL

Tweets Of The Day
Former Michigan Wolverines football cornerback and current Los Angeles Ram David Long explained how playing in Ann Arbor helped prepare him for the NFL, where he won a Super Bowl last season.
“Every week, we went out 110,000 [Michigan fans],” David Long said on Uninterrupted. “I feel like being in that environment was something I wanted to do, like go play in the league, play at the next level, I want to put myself in the most hectic, chaotic, competitive environment.
“Playing on that stage got me ready mentally. I always say, my first college game, I was way more nervous than my first league game. I went from playing in front of 600 people to 110,00. So as a 17 year old, I had to mature, like, alright, how do I get my mind right, how do I get my nerves down, how do I lock in? So, when I got to the league, it was like, alright, go in there and play calm because I’m used to playing in these hectic environments.”
Michigan junior running back Blake Corum scored 5 rushing touchdowns against UConn, becoming the third player in U-M history to do so. He joins Ron Johnson (vs. Wisconsin in 1968) and his former teammate, Hassan Haskins (vs. Ohio State in 2021).

Quote Of The Day
“I picked Michigan because of the relationship me and Coach (George) Helow have. I also like the game plan they have and how I fit into their defense. They came down here to see me and showed effort.
“Coach Helow is my guy. He can develop me to go to the next level. He knows all my weaknesses and strengths. I love Coach Minter’s scheme. He has the Mike blitzing off the edge or covering receivers. That’s what I do here (at Imhotep).”
