Former Michigan Wolverines football running back Blake Corum, a third-round draft pick, had a quiet start to his rookie season, only earning mop-up-duty carries n one game, a 41-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals Sept. 15. He didn’t have any rushes the last two weeks but earned more time in a 24-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers, and he was effective.

Corum’s first two plays — a run and a catch — went for 22 yards. All told, he rushed 5 times for 25 yards and caught 1 pass for 8 yards.

Despite not playing on offense in three of the first four clashes and only in garbage time in his lone appearance on that side of the ball, Corum got more opportunity in Week 5.

“Week 5 wasn’t a blowout,” Dallas Robinson of Pro Football Network wrote. “All of Corum’s touches came in normal downs and distances, and the Rams were within one score on his first four carries.”

While Corum is on the rise, other former Michigan players have unfortunately went down with injuries. Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Dax Hill will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.

“Heartbroken for him,” head coach Zac Taylor said Monday. “All he’s ever done is put his head down and worked and taken whatever coaching and tried to make the most of every opportunity.

“He’s showed a tremendous amount of growth at that corner spot, played nickel for us yesterday. You just hate it for him. I know he’ll bounce back from it. I just hate it for him because of what he’s shown on the film and the way he carries himself and goes about his business. Feel awful for him.”

San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody went down with a hamstring injury and will likely miss multiple weeks. With the team set to face the Seattle Seahawks Thursday night, it signed veteran kicker Matthew Wright in the meantime.

Moody should recover in short order, after being hurt on a kickoff in which he attempted to make a tackle.

“Thankfully I didn’t feel anything break or crack or anything as I did when I did break it,” Moody said. “So yeah that was good. But I knew something was wrong immediately. It’s just unfortunate.”

Finally, former Michigan wide receiver Nico Collins, the NFL’s leader with 567 receiving yards for the Houston Texans, will miss time with a hamstring injury. He was originally listed as “day-to-day” but is now being labeled as “week-to-week.”

Collins had a 68-yard touchdown reception thrown by quarterback C.J. Stroud before the injury, adding to his stellar start to the season.

“I think he is the best receiver in football,” Stroud said. “When he gets out of the game, it definitely is tough on us. A lot of things are predicated toward him and planned for him.”

Here’s a look at how every former Michigan player in the NFL performed in Week 5:
