Wolverine TV: Jesse Minter assesses Michigan pass rush, talks standout defenders, Maryland, more

Michigan Wolverines football notched 7 sacks in the season opener against Colorado State, which seemed extremely impressive at the time, but the Rams have given up 16 sacks in their two games since. Michigan has combined to make just 1 sack over the last two outings, a cause for a bit of concern.
Defensive coordinator Jesse Minter met with the media Wednesday afternoon and addressed that, sharing his thoughts on Michigan’s pass rush, discussing standout players, the challenge that Maryland presents and much more.
Michigan opens the Big Ten season with Maryland this weekend (noon ET on ABC). The Maize and Blue have outscored their first three opponents — Colorado State, Hawai’i and UConn — by a combined score of 166-17. Minter’s defense hasn’t allowed any first-half points, and 14 of the 17 points they have given up have come in the fourth quarter with backups in. Maryland is led by quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa. The Terrapins haven’t beaten Michigan since winning at The Big House in 2014, Brady Hoke’s final season.
