Former Michigan DB Jordan Morant reveals transfer destination
Former Michigan Wolverines football safety Safety Jordan Morant has his new home. He announced his commitment to Duke via social media Saturday.
Duke posted a 3-9 record last season, with its lone wins coming against North Carolina A&T, Northwestern and Kansas.
Morant did not see game action during his freshman year in 2020, before playing in eight games in 2021. Morant mostly played special teams but got in at safety in one game, totaling eight defensive snaps. He made one tackle in the Wolverines’ 42-27 beatdown of Ohio State.
Morant made two tackles and one pass breakup in Michigan’s Maize vs. Blue spring game, and appeared to be climbing the depth chart a bit despite still being buried behind the likes of Rod Moore, Makari Paige, R.J. Moten and potentially others, like four-star freshmen Keon Sabb (an early enrollee) and Zeke Berry.
On an appearance on the In The Trenches podcast shortly before Morant left the program, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh discussed the defensive back and his development this spring.

“Jordan Morant [continues] to have that drive and want to — football being very important, right up there, top three of your priorities,” Harbaugh said. “He’s got the natural athletic ability and toughness. He can hit, not afraid, he could surface to be that type of guy.”
It appears he’ll bring his commitment, attitude and physical traits to another school. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
A four-star recruit in the 2020 class, Morant came to Michigan from Bergen Catholic in Oradell, N.J. He suffered a foot injury during his prep senior season and wasn’t able to participate in the Polynesian Bowl and All-American Bowl, both of which he was invited to. That also limited him during his first year at Michigan.
