EDGE Josaiah Stewart
Michigan lost two straight games before beating MSU 24-17 last week, receiving a bit of a boost for the morale of the ball club.
“I feel like it’s been the same,” Stewart said of the vibes. “Obviously, winning feels good always, especially coming off two losses and a bye. So it had been a long time since we won a game. But our mindset is always the same every week.”
The Michigan EDGE notched his 6.5th sack of the season, stripping MSU’s quarterback just before the half to set up the go-ahead field goal, with the Wolverines leading 9-7 at the break.
“It kinda went by fast,” Stewart said. “Strip sack happened and then next thing you know there are three points on the board. I was kinda too busy celebrating with my teammates. The next thing I know, we’re walking in the locker room up 9-7. It was huge. Plays like that change games.

“Honestly, I was kinda chasing him too long. I felt like one more second and he was going to get rid of it. So I kinda just dove and sold out, and he had both hands on the ball, so I kinda knew where to aim with my hands. Just glad the ball came out.”
C Greg Crippen
Crippen didn’t earn Michigan’s starting center job until the beginning of this month. He’s opened the last three outings after rotating in as a backup earlier in the season. He discussed what kind of year it’s been, also revealing that he wasn’t fully healthy at the end of fall camp.
“In the beginning of the season, it was tough for me, because during camp I got hurt — at the end of camp,” Crippen said. “I sprained my ankle and foot. There was competition at the time, but I felt like it kinda put me back a little bit. But I’m feeling really healthy now. As an offensive line, we’re just gonna keep rolling every day and keep getting better.”
