WATCH: Michigan RB Kalel Mullings, TE Colston Loveland talk during bye week
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan Wolverines football graduate running back Kalel Mullings and junior tight end Colston Loveland met with the media Tuesday evening after practice during the team’s bye week. Watch video of their sessions with the media below.
RB Kalel Mullings
Mullings didn’t get a carry until late in the second half against Indiana, and he was the third Michigan running back in the game despite being the team’s leader in rushing yards and touchdowns. He was asked if he got an explanation from the staff as to why he didn’t play as much.
Mullings took a long pause, before responding with, “Yeah, I don’t know how to answer that one.”
He was asked if he was injured.
“Nah, nah I’m not,” Mullings replied. “Banged up, obviously. It’s a long season. Hurting, for sure. But not injured. There’s a difference between hurt and injured. But yeah. I don’t know…
“Obviously, playing on Saturdays and stuff, all of us want to be out there and playing and impacting. But at the same time, I was just focused on cheering on the guys and hoping for the best and just hoping that we get points out of every drive and we make every stop. And just waiting for whenever my number got called.”
After the game, Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore had said senior Donovan Edwards practiced better than Mullings, and that the staff wanted to get sophomore Benjamin Hall some carries.
“I feel like we’ve all been practicing really hard, really tough throughout the entire season,” Mullings noted. “I try not to really focus on necessarily other guys but more the task at hand and the team we’re playing. So I felt like I’ve been practicing fine. But yeah.”

TE Colston Loveland
Michigan’s star tight end, meanwhile, was asked if there have been any conversations about Wolverines that are potential NFL Draft picks opting out of the rest of the season.
“We’re gonna play,” Loveland said. “As long as we’re healthy and feel good, we’re gonna play. Michigan has done so much for us
“All of our boys, our brothers, our family, our coaches — they’re all still coaching and playing, so why wouldn’t we play? We got goals to reach as a team and individually, as well. So as long as I’m healthy, yeah, I’m playing.”
Loveland was asked if the same goes for a Michigan bowl game, responding, “that may be a different story, but yeah, as long as I feel good in the regular season, I’m playifor sure.”
