Bell discussed earning his first career start against Texas.
“It was a blessing,” Bell said. “I worked my tail off to be able to get to that spot, but I feel like I can always be better. From watching the film on Saturday, I feel like I know I can do better. I feel like I can make more plays out there, but I can only do so much.
“I feel like we’re going to be better on Saturdays, and we will be.”
Bell came to Michigan as a quarterback but switched to receiver ahead of his freshman season in 2023. He was surprised by making the move but has settled in.

“At first, when [former Michigan] Coach [Jim] Harbaugh said that, my heart dropped — and I was not ready, because I had not played receiver in I don’t know how long. But [wide receivers] Coach [Ron] Bellamy was stoked for it, he was happy for it. He’s seen my basketball highlights, so he knew he could turn me into something. But I’m still developing, still doing this and that. So I continue to thrive with him.”
Bell said that the last time he was a wide receiver before coming to Michigan was in eighth grade. He moved to quarterback in high school because “we had nobody that could throw the football.”
The 6-foot-2, 191-pounder had an 11-yard catch against Fresno State and a 7-yard grab versus Texas.
Hinton, meanwhile, discussed Michigan’s Tuesday practice.
“Good today,” Hinton said. “Good today. We had a good sense of urgency. We gotta get better. You’re never as good as you think, and you’re never as bad as you think, so today is one of those days where you get back to work. Urgency was high, execution was also high.”
