Henderson discussed his increased role in the second half of last week’s game, being inserted at left tackle in the third quarter of Michigan’s 31-6 win over Bowling Green.
“First of all, it was a lot of fun,” Henderson said. “I feel like, obviously, you want to start off every play thinking about, ‘Did I do my assignment?’ And then, you just want to be dominant every time you’re out there with the opportunities that you get. It was a lot of fun. My coaches and teammates were happy about it, and I was happy about it, as well.”
An Arizona State transfer, Henderson is pleased with his choice to join the Maize and Blue.
“Coming to Michigan has been awesome,” he said. ‘A program like this with so much prominence and so much potential, just being able to attack the day with like-minded guys every single day on the same mission and goal, it’s been phenomenal. I love it here.”

He knew competition would be fierce within the Michigan offensive line room but has relished the opportunity to battle.
“I obviously could’ve gone many a places where it was just handed,” Henderson said. “In the recruiting process, we talked about competing for it. I 100 percent knew that, that was a possibility. But as a player, you can never be afraid of competition. If you are, then you might need to take a look down within yourself. I wouldn’t be ready for the NFL in the future or life if I was afraid of competition.”
It’s different that he hasn’t started yet at Michigan, but his mindset has remained positive.
“It could be, but that’s my life,” Henderson said of if it’s different. “I started playing football in 11th grade, and I got the opportunity to start as a true freshman. I didn’t start the year off starting. But just staying prepared and trying to be a pro and getting better every day, I feel like great things happen when you just try to get better every day. That’s been my focus, getting better every day, and it’s been a lot of fun. And I feel like I’m getting better.”
