Michigan Wolverines football had three players participate in the NFL Combine on Thursday, but none went through on-field drills. Defensive tackles Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant and EDGE Josaiah Stewart were all held out of training. Graham is expected to bench press Friday.

Graham is dealing with a left heel bruise. A hamstring strain was found out during Grant’s medical examination earlier in the week, after he was planning on participating and wanted to run in the 4.8 or 4.9 range in the 40-yard dash. Nothing has come out on why Stewart decided not to compete.

All three still were measured on their height, weight, hand size and arm length. Here are the measurements:

Mason Graham
Height: 6’ 3 1/2’’
Weight: 296 pounds
Arm: 32’’
Hand: 9 1/8’’

Kenneth Grant
Height: 6’ 4’’
Weight: 331 pounds
Arm: 33 1/2’’
Hand: 10 1/8″

Josaiah Stewart
Height: 6’ 1’’
Weight: 249 pounds
Arm: 31 7/8’’
Hand: 9 1/2’’

While none of them went through drills, there was plenty of chatter surrounding Graham and Grant, NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah‘s No. 4 and No. 20 overall prospects, respectively.

“You look at Mason Graham right here, who has a wrestling background going back to high school, and you can see it with how he plays, with the balance, the strength, the power,” Jeremiah said on the combine broadcast. “He’s gonna be a top-10 pick, most likely.”

Jeremiah compared Graham to Los Angeles Rams second-year defensive lineman Braden Fiske, a 6-3 5/8″, 292-pounder who was the No. 39 overall pick in the second round of last year’s draft.

Grant, meanwhile, is also a dazzling prospect. The NFL Network crew discussed how much they wish he was going to show out, with their disappointment showing just how impressive Grant is.

“Just look at the size — 331 pounds,” Jeremiah said. “We’ll wait for the pro day to get a 40 on him, but he’s gonna run in the 4.9s, carrying that weight. That brings me flashbacks to [former Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle] Haloti Ngata, who I was around [as a scout with the Ravens].”

Jeremiah also pinpointed Graham’s game against USC as one to watch. Grant posted 2 tackles, including a sack, and recovered a fumble.

“Just watch the USC game, and when it finishes, put your feet up on the desk, have yourself a soda and that’s all you need to see,” Jeremiah said. “Just watch the USC game, grade the flashes, done. Put your pen down. Done. That’s all you need to see.”

Graham was interviewed by NFL Network’s Stacey Dales, and noted how he can make an impact even though he didn’t work out.

“I just want to leave my mark, being not just great on the field but being a good person,” Graham said of his experience at the combine.

Michigan has two players who will be measured Friday — defensive back Will Johnson and tight end Colston Loveland — but neither will compete. Loveland is recovering from shoulder surgery. Johnson is expected to show his skills at pro day.
