Michigan Wolverines football co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Matt Weiss and co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach Steve Clinkscale met with the media Wednesday afternoon ahead of their team’s game against Rutgers.
Weiss discussed sophomore quarterback J.J. McCarthy and how he’s progressed throughout the season, the team’s red-zone struggles and more. Clinkscale went in-depth about his defense, where it’s at and what he wants to see it improve at. He also highlighted freshman cornerback Will Johnson and why he’s set to see the field more going forward.
Michigan is 8-0 for just the second time under head coach Jim Harbaugh, joining the 2016 season. Rutgers, on the other hand, is 4-4 and coming off a 31-0 blowout loss to Minnesota in Minneapolis. Kickoff in Piscataway is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network.
