The United Eagles will compete in the 2025 FIH Nations Cup from Feb. 24-March 2 in Santiago, Chile. The event features some of the best-ranked teams not participating in the FIH Hockey Pro League and will give the winning team the option to be promoted to the FIH Hockey Pro League the next season. Team USA’s 20-athlete roster for this event will be named soon.
The first Olympian in Michigan field hockey history, Tamer started all five games at forward for the Red, White and Blue in Paris and led the USA with two goals, both of which she scored in a pool-play game against Great Britain.
Tamer, who redshirted the 2023 collegiate season while training with Team USA, played a key role in the United States’ Olympic qualification, scoring the game-winning goal in the 55th minute of a 2-1 comeback win over Japan in the semifinals of the Olympic Qualifier held Jan. 13-19 in Ranchi, India. The semifinal win to locked up Team USA’s qualifying berth, guaranteeing the necessary top-three finish at the event, as the U.S. went on to claim silver. Tamer also scored the lone goal in a 1-0 decision against host India in the first game of pool play.
Quote Of The Day
“Tre is a hard worker, a guy that resembles what a Michigan man should. He is a great football player, but it’s more than what he brings on the football field with him. He’s a smart kid, a leader, definitely a big personality. He’s everything you want in a guy in the locker room, and he’s going to bring that to the team.”
