Aidan Hutchinson gets his jersey number
It was all but a formality. Aidan Hutchinson wore No. 97, the same pair of digits his father, Chris, donned at Michigan, and the Detroit Lions were the only ones who had a top five pick and Hutchinson’s number available. In addition to him being a hometown kid from nearby Plymouth, Mich., it was meant to be in that respect, too. Hutchinson officially received his No. 97 jersey and sported it to rookie minicamp practice Friday.
In an appearance on The Wolverine Podcast this week, Chris Hutchinson revealed the family already has a lot of Lions gear and were anxiously awaiting Aidan being able to get his number.
“The Ford’s hooked us up,” Chris said on the podcast. “They had the whole Hutchinson clan all together. And hopefully — hopefully — old 9-7 can appear in the Honolulu Blue with ‘Hutchinson’ on it. We can’t release that for sure, but we’re very hopeful that Aidan will be old 97 in the Honolulu Blue.”
Hassan Haskins signs with Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans selected former Michigan running back Hassan Haskins in the fourth round, and now the two parties have agreed to terms on a rookie contract. According to Spotrac, Haskins’ deal is for four years and worth a total of $4,352,220, with a $692,220 signing bonus and $878,055 annual salary.
Last season at Michigan, Haskins totaled 1,327 yards and 20 touchdowns to lead the Wolverines’ rushing attack, but also got it done as a pass-catcher, adding 18 catches for 131 yards to his season totals as well.
His signature game came at the most opportune time, rushing for 169 yards and a rivalry-record five touchdowns to help Michigan beat Ohio State for the first time since 2011, winning by a final score of 42-27.

Tom Brady makes waves with FOX deal, Michael Jordan moment
Former Michigan quarterback Tom Brady made some plans for when he finally does hang them up for good. Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion, will become FOX’s lead NFL analyst once his playing days are over, though there’s no exact timeline on when that will be.
There were reports that Brady’s deal with FOX is for $375 million, but those were later refuted by the network.
“What has been reported isn’t an accurate description of the deal and we have not released details beyond what was disclosed on our quarterly earnings call,” Fox Sports said, via John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal.
The numbers placed on the contract for the former Michigan signal-caller were first reported by the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand, who released the details hours after Front Office Sports reported a number somewhere between $20-25 million per year with a total value over $200 million.
Brady is widely considered the greatest football player of all time, and perhaps the best athlete. Another in that latter conversation is former Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan, who shared a moment with Brady at the F1 race in Miami last weekend, with the video going viral.
