The hosts discussed Michigan’s unique setup, heading into the game with two interim head coaches — Jay Harbaugh for the first half and Mike Hart for the second half.
“[Michigan offensive coordinator] Sherrone Moore is back, which is maybe even more significant, as the offensive coordinator, as the offensive line coach” Sayfie said. “He’ll be able to be cleaning things up in real time, as opposed to having to wait until Sunday to do so after the last game. His [one-game] suspension is over.
“I’d love to know — I’ll probably look this up, but I don’t even know if it’s out there — has a team ever had two head coaches going into a game? Maybe something happened to the head coach during, but this is as unique of a setup as you can possibly have.”

“Before a game, probably not,” Balas chimed in. “It’ll be unique, and will they each get a half a win if they win, get credited for that? It’ll be interesting. In which case, they would probably be the only coaches ever to have a half win or half loss on their resume. It will be a win.
“Here’s the thing. I’m looking at these scores that are coming in, and I’m looking at these point spreads now with the way Michigan plays. I have no doubt that Michigan is going to win this football game, but it’s tough. They dominated the game against ECU. I went back and watched that game. They owned both lines of scrimmage. There were three possessions, guys, in the third quarter. With these new rules, these games are flying by. It’s going to be tougher and tougher to cover the spread, and I’m sure we’ll talk about that.
“I don’t think it really matters who’s out there on Saturday. Just kind of like last week, they could put you two guys out there and I would have all the confidence in the world that those guys would overcome your deficiencies and win that football game.”
“I’m just caught off guard by ‘deficiencies,'” Broome snapped back light-heartedly. “My deficiency as a coach is that I’d go for it on every fourth down — 4th and 2, 4th and 18, let’s have some fun with it, I guess. Anyway, back to football, I’d have to think from a wins perspective, I don’t know how they’ll do it in the record book, but assuming that the assistants get the win, it’s probably a Jay Harbaugh slash Mike Hart with the win, so that could be the only time … it won’t count against their records individually, but it’s kind of like a dual thing — I don’t know. I have no idea how they do it.”
