Michigan went from 5-5 to 8-5, winning the last three games against Northwestern, Ohio State and Alabama. Bredeson insisted that the Wolverines stuck to their culture.

“Nothing really changed inside,” the Michigan captain said. “It’s just what it’s built on. It’s kinda instilled in us the day you get there. It doesn’t matter what the situation you’re in, you just gotta go. Some things happened along the way; we lost games, but it’s what we were built on. Whenever it’s time to put it on, go do it.”

He said the Wolverines’ culture is even more important in seasons like this, when times can get tough.

“Even more,” he said. “And sometimes, it gets tested. Sometimes, you really feel it kinda bending, and it goes right back to what it was. That’s how important culture is, and that’s when you really find out what it’s about.”

Marshall, meanwhile had a breakout performance and was named the game’s MVP. He felt he got stronger and stronger as the game went on.

“Yeah, you get into a rhythm as the game goes on,” Marshall said. “You keep running down hill, you keep finding little creases, you keep watching film. And again, just like they were telling me, ‘It’s gonna hit. It’s gonna hit.’ One popped, and I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s go time.’”

He went out on a high note but feels a bit disappointed Michigan’s season is over.

“It makes me sad,” he noted. “Just the guys in the room, Dono[van Edwards] and them not being here. But it’s a new leadership role for me and a new leadership role for a lot of the other guys to step up and be that guy. That’s what Dono’s like, ‘It’s your time.’ It’s my time, and I just want to go out there and prove the world that I can do this.”

Michigan will begin offseason training in weeks, spring ball in months as it prepares for the 2025 season.
