Michigan football was down 28-10 at halftime but rallied back in the second half. The Wolverines made it a two-score game again but couldn’t get within one possession with a fourth-down conversion at the goal line failing.

“It was awesome to watch those guys in the second half … the energy, the excitement they brought,” Moore said. “But we’ve got to start that way. I really thought the defense went out there … we said we want to go three and out, they stopped them and then the offense went down on a 10 play drive, scored. We gelt the momentum going. The defense comes back with another big stop. I felt that momentum, but we’ve got to finish.”

Oregon’s first touchdown was a completion in the end zone, but replay showed that the ball came free and should’ve been incomplete.

“They’re supposed to every touchdown is supposed to be reviewed,” Moore noted. “That’s something we’ve got to talk to the Big Ten about. Every touchdown is supposed to be reviewed, so that definitely should have been called and looked at. “

Michigan struggled to run the ball, rushing for only 105 yards. Moore discussed the lack of success.

“There are a couple things on some run through backers we’ve got to fix up front,” the Michigan coach said. “Initially I thought we were moving them off the ball really well, but it was really the run through stuff that got us. It’s something we’ve got to fix, but not a magical number of yards we need. We need to have enough yards to score enough points to win.”

Michigan is now 5-4 after winning the national championship last season, and there are still three games to go. The Wolverines aren’t in contention for the Big Ten title or College Football Playoff, but Moore said the motivation will still be there.

“The motivation is that you’re at Michigan,” he said. “That you wear the winged helmet, have the block M on your chest, and you’ve got to play really good teams the rest of the way. These guys have a lot of pride. No one’s more disappointed about the losses than these kids and coaches. They’re going to continue to play.”
