Moore opened up his press conference responding to a question on how Michigan attacked its bye week.
“It was buy in week,” Moore said. “We really took it upon us to make sure that we’re all bought into the next two games, to do everything we can do get better and really work on the fundamentals, the little things. Make sure we’re all in, in every piece. There are no stones unturned, every T crossed, every I dotted to make sure that we’re in a great place.
“Had some of our best, spirited practices. Came back from — gave them a couple days off — and they came out yesterday with fire, with energy. So it was really good to see the kids in a positive mindset.”

The Michigan coach was asked if he felt the need to have a conversation with the team about buying in, but he noted that it was actually player leaders that drove the discussion about “buy in week,” with senior fullback / tight end Max Bredeson actually coining the term.
“Just in general, especially with where we’re at record wise, felt like we wanted to have that,” Moore said. “But it really wasn’t my decision. The captains had that. Max Bredeson actually came up with that, so credit to Max. We all took it upon ourselves, and it really turned out well.”
Moore was asked how important it would be for Michigan to make a bowl game. The Wolverines are 5-5 heading into the last two games, needing one win to become bowl eligible.
“I think it’s huge,” Moore said of the importance.” It’s huge for the program. Obviously, playing another game, getting another chance to play a good team, but building on the future, getting more practices. It’s like another spring ball for the young guys. It’s more football for the guys that need to keep getting better at football. So it’s huge for us and huge for the program.”
Michigan and Northwestern will kick Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET at The Big House.
