Shohei Ohtani was the story at Comerica Park. The Los Angeles Angels superstar threw a one-hitter and his first-ever complete game shutout in a win over the Detroit Tigers in the first game of a doubleheader. Then, he hit two home runs in the second outing, with Los Angeles winning both. But it was Michigan junior running back Donovan Edwards that kicked off the day by throwing out the first pitch before the first game. Edwards has been earning more and more NIL opportunities of late, including doing a recent deal with NASCAR.

Michigan alum and popular sports talk radio host Rich Eisen weighed in on head coach Jim Harbaugh’s potential four game suspension by the NCAA. Todd Anson, a friend of Harbaugh’s, also shares his opinions on Twitter.

Former Michigan basketball standout guard Zavier Simpson is expected to agree to a one year deal with the Detroit Pistons. Simpson participated with the Pistons in the Summer League and apparently did enough to earn a contract. Simpson averaged 5.8 points, 2.5 assists and 2 rebounds per game in five appearances in the Summer League.
