2025 New Orleans (La.) Archbishop Shaw four-star wide receiver Jacob Washington officially signed with Michigan Wolverines football on Wednesday. Here’s everything you need to know about Washington.

The skinny

Height: 6-3
Weight: 180
Industry Ranking: No. 25 wide receiver, No. 213 overall
Interesting Facts: According to his Hudl page, he ran a 4.48-second 40-yard dash. He also ran an 11.53-second 100-yard dash as a junior.

Recruitment

When Washington committed to Michigan June 24, he became the Wolverines’ first wide receiver commit over 6-foot-2 since 2022. The Wolverines have looked to add size at the position, and between he and fellow signee Jamar Browder (6-4), they’ve accomplished that.

Washington built strong bonds with wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy, a fellow Louisiana native, and head coach Sherrone Moore. Bellamy actually played at the same high school as Washington currently attends. Michigan had to fend off a late push by Missouri at the end, with Washington taking an official visit there, but he put pen to paper for the Wolverines Wednesday, ending the flirtation.

He said it

“I see myself being an active deep threat at Michigan. Even with the offense they run, I see myself making phenomenal plays downfield and helping the team win games.”

They said it

“Washington has a tall, athletic build at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds. He seems to have good long speed, but can continue to improve his flexibility and route running. I really like his catch radius, and he showed flashes of being a natural pass catcher on his two grabs. Washington is also a very willing run blocker, which will serve him well at Michigan. He already plays in a similar run-heavy scheme at his high school.”

Scouting report

“Jacob Washington is an intriguing physical talent at receiver. What he was able to do in the combine setting at the Under Armour camp this offseason was impressive. Some of the numbers he laid down were really notable. I think he has really good size and athleticism. He is over 6-foot-2 ½, 180 pounds. He has a 6’7 wingspan. He can run and jump at a really high level at that size. The biggest thing with Jacob Washington is continuing to hone his route running and consistency with his ball skills and change of direction.

“He has good size. He’s a taller, longer body type, but he runs hard and physical. He catches the ball well. He has the potential to be a three-down back with the skillset he showed. He’s a guy that came onto the recruiting scene a little later. He popped on college radars in a significant way coming out of his junior season.”
